IHS 2020 Convention Canceled

In lieu of this year’s convention, the International Hearing Society is planning to hold an IHS Virtual Conference in late June/early July, and has scheduled its 2021 Convention to take place in San Diego on August 12-14, 2021. The Society will also be holding its annual Membership Meeting in the fall.

ADA Provides Guidelines for Telehealth Procedures

The Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) has published guidelines for telehealth procedures that can be provided with existing technologies—such as hearing aid checks and examinations—as well as those that will require special equipment or technology, like pure-tone audiometry and diagnostic analysis of cochlear implants.

Coronavirus: The Uber-Disrupter

As this edition of “Hearing Review” was heading to press, the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 or “COVID-19”) seized the public’s attention and caused widespread anxiety, cancellation of most events including the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) convention, Wall Street to crater, travel restrictions, and grocery stores to run short on (of all things, but perhaps somewhat illustrative of panic) toilet paper.
