Cochlear Launches ‘Hearing 20/20’ Campaign

According to Cochlear, the campaign is supported by 10 hearing health nonprofit and industry partners, and establishes a simple, common metric—defined as 20 decibels in each ear—to help simplify the ongoing conversation and actions related to monitoring hearing health and treating hearing loss, especially among adults 55 years of age and older.

ACI Alliance to Host Premiere of ‘The Listening Project’

The American Cochlear Implant Alliance will host the premiere of ‘The Listening Project’, a documentary co-created by audiologist and frequent ‘Hearing Review’ contributor Jane Madell, and Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor Brodsky. The film profiles 15 young adults who were born deaf but can now hear, thanks to cutting-edge technologies, including cochlear implants.

EHDI Passes Committee, Goes to Full Senate for Consideration

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee passed a bill to reauthorize federal newborn hearing screening programs for the next five years, the American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACI Alliance) announced. The ACI Alliance is a nonprofit organization that advocates for improved access for cochlear implants.

15th Symposium on Cochlear Implants in Children to Be Held in July

The CI2017 Pediatric Symposium will be held July 26-29, 2017 in San Francisco. Co-organized by the American Cochlear Implant Alliance, the
 Stanford University School of Medicine, and University of California San Francisco, the Symposium features a multi-specialty group of clinicians, educators and scientists exploring current topics having the greatest impact on improving pediatric cochlear implant outcomes. This year’s central topics will focus on music, technology, cognition, outcomes, indications, and delivery.
