The new Standard Pro and Micro Pro batteries provide up to 23 hours of hearing, faster charging, and backward compatibility with earlier devices.
Med-El US has announced two new rechargeable battery options for its Sonnet 3 audio processor: the Standard Pro and the Micro Pro. The new options are designed to offer users longer battery life and improved usability.
The Standard Pro battery delivers up to 23 hours of hearing on a single charge, while the smaller Micro Pro offers up to 12 hours. Both batteries feature a simplified two-part design, support over 1,100 charging cycles, and can be fully charged in up to three hours using USB-C. Charging is possible while the battery is attached to the processor or separately.
The new batteries are backward compatible with the Sonnet 2 audio processor and support Med-El implants dating back to 1994, providing an upgrade path for many existing users without requiring a change to their implant.
“Battery life and usability are essential to everyday hearing,” says Jennifer Robinson, corporate director of product management hearing solutions at Med-El, in a release. “These new rechargeable batteries reflect our commitment to user-centric innovation. With up to 23 hours of hearing time and a simplified, compact design, they give users more freedom to focus on life – not on managing their device.”
The battery kits include child-safe covers, and the charger features magnetic alignment and an LED status light for ease of use.
Med-El recipients in the US whose Sonnet 3 kit ships on or after March 2, 2026, are eligible for a promotion to receive a Sonnet Rechargeable Battery Pro Kit. The kit includes one Micro Pro battery, one Standard Pro battery, and the accompanying battery covers and charger. The promotion applies to new cochlear implant users and existing users upgrading to the Sonnet 3.
