During 2004-2007, he served as a committee member on the Auditory Verbal Certification Committee within the AG Bell Academy, whose responsibilities include reviewing the auditory verbal exam, assessing exam candidates in terms of habilitation proficiency, and supervising the exam.
Kendrick has worked as a listening and spoken language specialist for the past 24 years as therapist, consultant, lecturer, and publisher, giving him the opportunity to work in Australia, Singapore, and China with children, parents, teachers, therapists, audiologists, and other related professionals across cultures. He has presented and lectured extensively at national and international conferences across the Asia Pacific region.
In Singapore, he served as director of a cochlear implant program providing pre- and post-cochlear implant support. Across the Asia Pacific region, he has supported the development and delivery of training programs for professionals.
As program development manager for The Shepherd Centre in Australia, a large nongovernmental auditory-verbal intervention center, Kendrick worked to establish an internal training and mentoring program and external professional development courses, and deliver improved accountability across the organization for children’s outcomes. In China, Kendrick established the Beijing Training and Education Centre, introducing auditory-verbal therapy and improved pediatric audiology to China.
“Andrew Kendrick brings extensive, global experience to the AG Bell Academy Board of Directors,” said Lyn Robertson, PhD, president of the AG Bell Academy. “His dedication and professional experience will be invaluable as we work to increase the number of Listening and Spoken Language Specialists so that families of children with hearing loss around the world can rely on the proven support and care that LSLS certification offers.”
