The Better Hearing Institute (BHI) announces the launch of its newly remodeled website, www.BetterHearing.org. The new site focuses on the individual and his or her journey to better hearing. The group says it wanted to embolden the broad spectrum of Americans who are in pursuit of better hearing—no matter where they are on their journey of realization and action.

Inspiring action and fostering a nationwide culture of support are the themes behind the Better Hearing Institute’s newly renovated website. BHI has renovated its website as part of its larger effort to inspire a broader, more action-oriented outlook on the state of hearing loss in America. BHI recognizes the substantial link between hearing health and active lifestyles, whole health, quality of life, and productivity.

The “hearing” landscape is changing rapidly. Greater numbers of Americans are experiencing hearing loss at younger ages while the United States is undergoing an upward demographic shift in age. Meanwhile, people eager to stay actively engaged in full, rewarding, and productive lives are putting off retirement and staying in the workforce longer.

These emerging societal trends are creating an environment in which youthful-minded Baby Boomers and Gen Xers are coming to realize the importance of good hearing to their professional and personal lives, not to mention to their quality of life and overall health. The good news is that hearing assistance technologies are catching up with the needs and wants of this dynamic generation of change-makers. In fact, there are many leading-edge technologies available—such as digital hearing aids, advanced microphone technologies, and wireless functionalities—that can help the great majority of people with hearing loss maximize their hearing ability whenever and wherever they want.

The new BHI website has information about hearing loss in both adults and children. And it is designed to help each individual take that next step—in gathering information, and recognizing and addressing his or her hearing loss—no matter where they are on their journey to better hearing.

The new BHI website includes inspiring personal stories of everyday people who have already taken the first and most important step in addressing their hearing loss. And it is chock full of informational articles. Importantly, the website includes a free, quick, and confidential online hearing check to help individuals determine if they need a comprehensive hearing test by a hearing healthcare professional. What’s more, there are hyperlinks available that allow visitors to “window shop” and learn more about hearing aid technologies from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

As more of America experiences hearing loss, it becomes increasingly imperative that we create a national culture of action and support that promotes the early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and successful management of hearing loss. Not only will it benefit the individual, but it will benefit families and society as a whole.
