GN ReSound, Copenhagen, Denmark, has announced the unveiling of LiNX2, the next generation of the company’s made for iPhone hearing aids with smart hearing technology. The device builds on technologies in all areas of smart hearing, says the company, including audiology, connectivity, design, and apps. ReSound LiNX2 is intended to provide wearers with a natural and advanced hearing experience through the company’s Surround Sound by ReSound™, Spatial Sense™, and Binaural Directionality™ II features.
According to the company announcement, ReSound LiNX2 leverages the capabilities of ReSound’s family of smart hearing aids and maintains the discreet package that is available with the first generation of LiNX technology. There is no need for a remote control or other intermediary device. ReSound LiNX2 takes advantage of smartphone technologies to allow wearers to stream phone and FaceTime calls, geo-tag favorite locations, and discretely customize audio setting directly from the ReSound Smart App on a smartphone.
“ReSound LiNX2 is the latest step in our efforts to make hearing as natural and effortless as possible,” said GN ReSound CEO Anders Hedegaard. “We revolutionized hearing aid technology in 2014 with the introduction of ReSound LiNX, a game changing, Smart Hearing device that offered incredible sound quality, connectivity and control. ReSound LiNX2 builds on that capability, bringing even more empowerment to users that expect the best quality without compromise in an increasingly connected world.”
With this product line, GN ReSound announces that it hopes to put people with hearing loss on an equal footing with everyone else. The company hopes that ReSound LiNX2 takes the user experience to the next level with Spatial Sense, which is said to create a vivid sense of where sounds are coming from. The LiNX2 is reported to offer a broader range of models and prices, with more options for everyone, including people who prefer custom molded models.
The company says that users can experience direct stereo sound streaming from iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch without the need for an additional pendant-like device. The new Spatial Sense technology is designed to give users a vivid sense of space and speech with good sound quality, thanks to Surround Sound by ReSound. The company reports that ReSound LiNX2 allows users to personalize their hearing experience directly through the ReSound Smart™ App.
ReSound LiNX2 is the fourth family of hearing aids to come out of GN ReSound’s proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless platform and builds on existing technologies in all areas of Smart Hearing (audiology, connectivity, design, and apps). Users preferring Android or other Bluetooth phones can get hands-free phone operation and direct stereo sound through the ReSound Unite™ Phone Clip+.
