ADA Endorses Audiology Patient Choice Act Legislation

The Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) commended US Representative Tom Rice (R-SC) for his leadership in introducing HR 2276, the Audiology Patient Choice Act. The Academy stated that the bipartisan legislation, if enacted, will bring Medicare in line with evidence-based practices in audiologic health care delivery models, and trends in patient care and participatory medicine.

Hear Ontario Advocates for Greater Choice in Hearing Aids Available for Injured Workers

Hear Ontario—a Canada-based coalition of hearing aid manufacturers and hearing health professionals focused on the quality of hearing aids provided by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB)—launched their #HelpOntarioHear campaign, the coalition announced. The campaign encourages Ontarians from every walk of life to contact their Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP) regarding a recent WSIB decision to restrict hearing aid options for injured workers.

ESIT Receives Funding for Tinnitus Research Scholarships

As part of its research and development program, “Horizon 2020,” the European Union (EU) is making 3.8 million euros available for the European School for Interdisciplinary Tinnitus Research (ESIT)—an education program funded by the EU in order to promote tinnitus research in Europe—in order to gather data on a systematic interdisciplinary basis, to research new treatment methods, and to train 15 young scientists for work in the field, ESIT announced.
