Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD) announced that its Chief Marketing Officer, and longtime leader in the deaf community, Rosa Lee Timm is the new Division President for CSD's Social Venture Fund. Timm first joined CSD in 2019 as the Chief Marketing Officer and has been an integral part of the organization's senior leadership ever since.
Cochlear Limited (ASX: COH) announced the winners of the 19th Annual Graeme Clark and the 10th Annual Anders Tjellström Scholarships. The scholarships, named after two pioneers of the hearing implant industry, recognize Cochlear Nucleus Implant, Cochlear Baha System, and Cochlear Osia System recipients in the United States and Canada who are said to uphold “the Cochlear ideals of leadership, humanity, and demonstrate high academic achievement.”
The scholarship awards can be used for any school-related expenses including tuition, books, and supplies during any academic term, including the summer term.
They are asking whether languages change so they are easier to produce, or whether they change in ways that make them easier for others to understand. Initial results challenge a long held notion that signs move toward the face in order to be easier to understand.
