Chicago, Ill – At a gala event at the AAA show in Boston, Beltone awarded the Larry Mauldin Award for Excellence in Education to Dr Tom Muller.

Todd Murray, president of Beltone North America, commented in the press statement, “Beltone is proud to present this award to Dr Muller. His extraordinary contributions to the field of audiology and the hearing care industry are profound. We are grateful for his ongoing efforts to improve our industry through continuing education and innovation.”

Since 1997, Muller (pictured) has been with the University of Arizona Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, where he currently serves as clinical associate professor and clinical division leader for audiology. For 7 years, he was also the director of the Audiology Department at Thomas-Davis Medical Centers in Tucson.

Muller’s other responsibilities include managing the Pima County Hearing Aid Bank, a cooperative program of the Sertoma, a community outreach program for the deaf, and the University of Arizona Hearing Clinic. The Pima County Hearing Aid Bank enables low-income individuals to obtain hearing aids at a very low cost.

“I am honored to be chosen for this award by my colleagues,” said Muller in the press announcement. “It is very rewarding to be recognized as an educator and advocate within the industry that is a passion of my life.”

The Mauldin Award was created by Beltone in 1999 to honor the accomplishments of the late Larry Mauldin, especially for his work and commitment to education in the field of audiology. Mauldin was well known for his passion to advance the knowledge of audiology and hearing aid fittings to as broad an audience as possible. The award is presented annually to an industry leader committed to continuing education and unselfishly giving back to the profession, the community, and the hearing impaired.
