Phonak announced that Joseph Brisco from Hastings, Michigan was recently fitted with Sky Marvel hearing aids at no cost to his family through a HearStrong and Lemon(aids) 4 Hearing Aids partnership. In addition to providing hearing aids to the boy, Phonak, a provider of hearing solutions, is also sponsoring the HearStrong Foundation so that children like Joseph “can continue to receive the gift of better hearing.”

According to Phonak’s announcement, HearStrong is dedicated to helping the 80% of people with untreated hearing loss receive necessary hearing technology. This is achieved by recognizing outstanding adults and children with hearing loss and giving them a platform to empower and serve others in need of hearing care. In March 2019, HearStrong teamed up with Lemon(aids) 4 Hearing Aids, a like-minded organization with a mission to help everyone get hearing aids who needs them. The partnership allows individuals in need to apply to be one of the recipients to receive a free set of hearing aids, such as those provided by Phonak. They work with local hearing care providers to fit the devices, free of charge.
“Giving back to the community continues to be a priority for Phonak, and that’s why we’re proud to continue our work with HearStrong and provide children with the gift of hearing,” said Sandy Brandmeier, President of Sonova USA, the parent company of Phonak. “We like to say that well hearing is well-being, and that’s especially true for children during their development years. We can’t wait to see all the things that Joseph will surely accomplish in life.”
Prior to receiving his new hearing aids, Joseph struggled to follow conversations. Participating in sports was a challenge for him as it was difficult for him to hear important instructions. Joseph’s mother, Jaime Brisco, was thrilled when she learned Joseph was a recipient to receive new hearing aids and that she would be able to provide him with the necessary tools he needed to succeed in life. The ability to hear better has already positively impacted Joseph’s life, Phonak reports. Jaime shared how Phonak Sky Marvel has had a notable and lasting effect on her child.
“Joseph keeps commenting about the clarity of sounds that Phonak Sky Marvel provides,” said Jaime. “He also loves the fact that they are Bluetooth and he can listen to music without disturbing the rest of the family. A smile has not left his face since he received the new hearing aids and, as a mother, that was my goal with getting him help.”
