Hundreds of audiology students gathered at Starkey’s Eden Prairie, Minn., headquarters for the annual Starkey University Workshop, engaging in hands-on learning, AI-powered hearing technology demonstrations, and direct collaboration with industry experts.
Starkey welcomed hundreds of audiology students representing 40 university programs from across the US for its annual Starkey University Workshop, an immersive educational experience held July 28, 2026, at the company’s global headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minn.
The workshop offered students direct exposure to the latest developments in AI-powered hearing technology, with interactive sessions spanning hearing science, patient-centered care, clinical best practices, and the expanding role of hearing technology in supporting communication, cognition, and overall wellness. Students also toured Starkey’s research, engineering, and manufacturing operations and connected with the teams developing the company’s next generation of hearing solutions.
“As hearing technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, it’s essential that we support and uplift audiology students early and equip them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to harness these innovations for the benefit of their future patients,” says Sara Burdak, AuD, chief audiology officer and executive VP of product strategy at Starkey, in a release. “Starkey University creates meaningful opportunities for students to learn directly from experts, experience innovation firsthand, and leave inspired and prepared to shape the future of hearing healthcare.”
Hands-On Exposure to Clinical and Industry Contexts
Beyond sessions focused on hearing science and AI, the workshop connected students with Starkey leaders and industry experts, providing practical clinical insights intended to support patient outcomes as students enter the workforce. The event reflects a broader initiative by Starkey to invest in professional development at the student level, alongside its ongoing product and technology innovation.
