Heuser Hearing Institute, a Louisville nonprofit, announced that Dr Ingrid Edwards has been chosen as a 2021 Health Care Hero from Louisville Business First. These annual awards recognize professionals who have made an impact on healthcare in their community through their concern for patients, research and inventions, management skills, innovative programs for employees, and service to the poor and uninsured. Dr Edwards has worked at Heuser Hearing Institute for 20 years, with 26 total years in the industry.

Heuser Hearing Institute (HHI) is a multi-specialty nonprofit campus promoting the needs of children and adults with disorders of hearing and balance. As a clinician, Dr Edwards specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the dizzy patient and infant diagnosis of hearing loss. Dr Edwards has led and continues to lead Heuser Hearing Institute with a team of 10 audiologists through the COVID pandemic. During this time Dr Edwards, with her team, understanding and accepting the risks, created many new ways to help their patients including drive-through hearing tests where patients could remain in their cars. Along with this, the team began virtual appointments where patients could receive quality care from their own homes.

In September 2020, Dr Edwards coauthored and published a study along with Dr Arun K. Gadre, MD, FACS, who is currently Clinical Professor of Otology and Neurotology at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, and two others in the August 2020 issue of Frontiers in Neurology-Neurotology.

“I am honored to have been nominated by my colleagues and to have been chosen for this award in a year full of hardworking healthcare heroes,” said Dr Edwards. “Our team here at Heuser has gone above and beyond for continued learning and patient care. My passion has always come from helping my patients, I am excited about the potential for future patient care.”

“Congratulations to Dr Edwards and all of the 2021 Healthcare Heroes honorees. I’m grateful to have Dr Edwards on our team. Her innovation, adaptability, and creativity was instrumental in Heuser Hearing Institute continuing to provide hearing healthcare throughout the pandemic,” said Brett Bachmann, CEO, Heuser Hearing Institute.
