The new device combines an in-the-ear design with AI sound processing, rechargeability, and advanced connectivity options.
Oticon Inc has launched Oticon Zeal, a new hearing aid style now available in the US market. The device features an in-the-ear design that incorporates receiver-in-the-ear technology, offering users a discreet solution with a full set of features, including rechargeability and modern connectivity.
Oticon Zeal is designed with flexible fitting options, compatible with both non-custom domes and custom earmolds. It is powered by an AI platform that adapts to various sound environments to enhance speech clarity.
“Oticon Zeal proves that patients don’t have to sacrifice the benefits of advanced BrainHearing technology and second-generation AI sound processing in order to be discreet,” says Virginia Ramachandran, AuD, PhD, vice president of audiology for Oticon Inc, in a release. “Flexible fitting options empower hearing care professionals to deliver benefits to their patients in a way that best meets their needs.”
Sound Processing and Design
Built on Oticon’s BrainHearing technology, Zeal utilizes second-generation AI to deliver up to 12 dB of noise suppression and AI-driven speech clarity enhancements of up to 6 dB.
The device’s body is constructed using encapsulation technology, which encloses the internal components to create an integrated and durable structure. This process allows for a compact design intended for all-day use.
Connectivity and Power Management
Oticon Zeal supports direct streaming and hands-free calls for select devices. It is enabled for Google’s Fast Pair for easier pairing with Android phones and features Auracast technology for receiving public audio broadcasts. Users can also manage their device settings through the Oticon Companion app.
The hearing aid is equipped with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that provides up to 20 hours of use on a single charge. The accompanying portable SmartCharger holds up to three additional charges. According to the company, a 15-minute quick charge can provide 4 hours of battery life, while a 30-minute charge offers 8 hours of use.
