Lubbock, Tex — Near the end of 2011, the 12th Annual Conference of the Texas Academy of Audiology (TAA) was held in Dallas. The event brought together the largest attendance in the history of the Academy, according to the post-conference press release.
During the organization’s business meeting, four new members of the TAA Board were elected. Members also heard a review of the TAA’s busy legislative year in 2011, including new changes in Texas’ licensing act.
Additionally, conference attendees were able to earn continuing education units, network with colleagues, and interact with 54 exhibitors representing 26 companies.
Fifty-seven audiology students also attended the conference. TAA’s student poster forum, an opportunity for students to present their research, had the largest number of posters ever submitted, TAA reported.
First place awards for student presentations were given to Jody Pogue and Denise Romine from the University of North Texas, and a third place award was given to Elizabeth Parks from the University of Texas at Dallas.
