Oticon Inc has announced the appointments of Douglas Beck, AuD, as Director of Academic Sciences and Thomas Lawrence as Director of Sales.
The company reports that Beck’s new title reflects his more than 11 years of contributions to Oticon’s academic, clinical, and education efforts in the US, and around the world. Lawrence is recognized for his outstanding management skills that have enabled the Oticon sales team to continue to demonstrate best-in-class practices in delivering quality services and support to Oticon’s professional partners.
“Through his many speaking engagements abroad and in the US, Doug Beck has earned a reputation as a resourceful and enthusiastic speaker,” said Oticon President Peer Lauritsen. “The feedback we receive from audience members consistently shows us that Doug is an extremely effective ambassador for Oticon and our ongoing commitment to support hearing care professionals in acquiring the knowledge and skills they need to provide quality patient care.”
Lauritsen also commented on the new role for Tom Lawrence, who joined Oticon in 2015 in the newly created position of National Sales Manager. “Tom is a leader who understands the challenges our business partners face in an evolving healthcare marketplace,” said Lauritsen. “In just one year, Tom has driven improvements and implemented strategies that will allow us to better meet our partners’ needs now and help continue their success into the future.”
Beck is a prolific author with 152 published articles and more than 1,500 abstracts, interviews, and op-eds addressing a wide variety of audiology and professional topics. He also serves as a senior editor for The Hearing Review’s “Inside Clinical Research” column.
Lawrence has more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development in the medical device and healthcare arena, where he has developed a reputation for building strong teams that understand customer needs.
In the same announcement, Lauritsen listed two additional promotions at Oticon. Barbara Beck has been appointed Senior Customer Service Manager, and Adam Alexander has been promoted to Customer Service Manager.
