Registration for the CI 2013 Symposium, “Emerging Issues in Cochlear Implantation,” is now open and also accepting poster presentation submissions through May 31, 2013. The conference will be held October 24-26, 2013, in Washington, DC.

Sponsored by the newly formed American Cochlear Implant Alliance, the symposium will feature a new format that will allow participants to explore and discuss six key issues in depth. Each of the six 3-hour topical segments will include expert speakers from across the treatment continuum. The final hour of each segment will consist of a panel discussion of the speakers and additional participants who will address these topics in an interactive manner.

The six key topics are:

  • Hearing Preservation
  • Implantation of the Very Young
  • Implanting Multiply Involved Children
  • Cochlear Implants in Single-Sided Deafness
  • Cochlear Implantation in Older Adults
  • Telehealth and Cochlear Implantation

The conference will also highlight improving access to cochlear implantation. In addition to the scientific sessions, the organizers will be hosting an ACI Alliance on the Hill for conference attendees who wish to share information on cochlear implants with their Congressional delegation. ACI Alliance staff will be setting up meetings for those who wish to participate, and training will be provided beforehand.

More information about the conference and ACI membership discounts is available at www.acialliance.org.
