The 2008 Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meeting (COSM), a joint meeting of seven otolaryngological societies, is scheduled May 1 through May 4 in Orlando. The meeting, which typically attracts more than 1,200 otolaryngologists, will feature dozens of scientific presentations highlighting research in progress in otolaryngology.

The societies participating in the combined meeting are the American Broncho-Esophagological Association, American Laryngological Association, American Neurotology Society, American Otological Society, American Rhinologic Society, American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, and the Triological Society.

Each participating society is completely autonomous in devising its own scientific program for COSM, according to a source at the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head Neck Surgery. Each society’s educational program features the latest research and clinical updates and innovations in those subspecialties presented by the most prominent speakers in Otolaryngology.

The JW Marriott-Orlando Grande Lakes will serve as the headquarters hotel for the meeting and will house the scientific sessions, as well as all scientific and technical exhibits.  There will also be a program for spouses and guests of meeting attendees.

The COSM program includes guest lectures by prominent leaders in surgery; numerous courses and scientific sessions; dozens of papers reflecting research related to current issues in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of otolaryngology-related conditions; and two scientific poster receptions.  A variety of companies will display products or services that provide solutions for managing diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.

Registration details and materials are available online at www.cosm.md
