Hearing Aid Sales Increase by 3.8% in First Half of 2019

US hearing aid unit sales during the first half of 2019 increased by 2.7% for the private/commercial sector and 8.5% for the US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), for a total increase of 3.8% compared to the same period last year. The VA accounted for 1 in 5 (19.5%) of all hearing aids dispensed in the United States in the first half of 2019. RIC-style hearing aids constituted 81.7% of all hearing aids dispensed.

Sonova to Supply Costco Kirkland Signature (KS9) Hearing Aids

Sonova, the Swiss-based parent group of Phonak, Unitron, and Hansaton, confirmed that it has been awarded the contract to supply Costco’s Kirkland Signature 9.0 (KS9) hearing aids. IntriCon has announced a distribution agreement with Puretone Ltd, a UK-based hearing health company with operations in more than 75 countries and the sale of IntriCon’s London-based subsidiary, PC Werth, to Warner Tech-care Products. ASHA Publishes Data on Annual Salaries from New Audiology Survey

Of the 1,615 respondents who reported how they were paid, more than 4 in 5 (81%) respondents were employed as clinical service providers whose salaries ranged from $79,095 for providers to $104,293 for administrators, supervisors, and directors. Private practice owners had an annual median salary of $84,000, according to the report.
