New research from Irish medical device company, Neuromod Devices Ltd, has found that more than three quarters of people suffering from tinnitus in the United Kingdom have never received any treatment for their condition, according to an announcement on the company's website. The poll also revealed that 67% of UK tinnitus sufferers don’t feel adequately informed about their condition.
Following a similar pattern to 2017, NHS sales in Q4 were considerably above the rest of the year in terms of quantity, according to the BIHIMA report. The BIHIMA reports NHS sales were down 0.3% from the same period last year, though private sales continued their strong performance with hearing instrument sales up 5.2% from the same period last year.
Experts have published a list of the most urgent priorities for researching hearing loss, which affects more than 10 million people in the United Kingdom. According to UK researchers, hearing loss is a health priority area, but significantly less money is spent on hearing research than on other public health concerns, such as vision loss and diabetes.
