Phonak LLC has announced the appointment of Jason Mayer as vice president of commercial sales, and Rose Bongiovanni as vice president of strategic accounts.

Phonak reports that Mayer brings 13 years of industry experience to his new role at Phonak US, with specific expertise in brand development, strategic planning, leadership, and team building. Prior to his appointment as vice president of sales at Phonak US, Mayer served in various capacities at Unitron and Phonak UK since 2003, most recently as vice president of sales at Unitron. He had previously served as sales director for Phonak UK. Prior to joining Phonak, Mayer was with Nomadic Display, a global leader in trade show exhibit production. Originally from London, England, Mayer earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of York, and furthered his executive education at the Management School of St Gallen in Switzerland, and INSEAD in Paris, France.

Rose Bongiovanni

With more than 30 years in the hearing industry, Bongiovanni, AuD, brings a wealth of business and clinical experience to her new role. Prior to her appointment as vice president of Strategic Accounts, Bongiovanni served in various roles at Phonak since 2007, most recently as vice president of commercial sales and clinical training at Phonak US. Prior to joining Phonak, Bongiovanni held various management and training roles at Widex and Starkey, as well as serving as adjunct professor for the Arizona School of Health Sciences. She is a past president of the California Academy of Audiology, and has published numerous articles on selection, fitting and verification, and post-fitting rehabilitation. Bongiovanni earned her Clinical Doctorate of Audiology at AT Still University/Arizona School of Health Sciences, her master’s degree in Communication Disorders at California State University Los Angeles, and her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Arizona.

“We are convinced that Jason’s market knowledge, strategic thinking and customer experience, and Rose’s vast industry knowledge and years of relationship building with her hearing care professional peers throughout the country will further strengthen our market position and help drive business to the next level,” said Jan Metzdorff, president, Phonak US.

In the same announcement, Phonak reported that Eric Timm is leaving his post as vice president of national sales. “For the past nine years with Phonak, Eric has served senior management roles in both sales and marketing, where he achieved multiple Phonak marketing ‘firsts’ and played a pivotal role in building Phonak to the market leader it is today,” said Metzdorff. “We will miss his business acumen and astute strategic thinking, and we wish him all the best in his continuing career.”
