Last month Oticon employees gathered to salute Henning Falster for his 40-year contribution to building a leadership position in education and professional development for Oticon Inc among US hearing care professionals. As Senior Manager, Professional Programs & Events, Falster has been a driving force in establishing a gold standard for Oticon’s professional conferences and events that emphasizes high educational content and quality.
“Henning has organized knowledge-sharing events across the US and in more than a dozen countries involving tens of thousands of practitioners, audiology students, and educators,” says Oticon President Peer Lauritsen (pictured above congratulating Falster). “We have all benefited from his incredible organization and people management skills, his flexibility and resourcefulness, and most importantly, his commitment to putting the professional development needs of our valued professional partners first.”
Falster began his tenure at Oticon in 1974 as a field sales engineer, working for a number of years with audiology centers and hearing aid practices across the country before moving into sales management. After accepting a management position at the Oticon US headquarters, in Somerset, NJ, he applied his customer experience to product management and customer support encompassing customer service, data processing, telemarketing, and audiology support. Later, he transitioned to marketing where he was responsible for new product launches and support programs for the hearing care providers.
Falster has served on a number of industry and association committees and continues to chair the Hearing Industry (HIA) Trade Show Liaison Committee and to serve on the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) Exhibitor Advisory Panel. A strong advocate on behalf of industry in influencing positive changes at the national audiology conventions, he was instrumental in establishing the Oticon-sponsored Marion Downs Pediatric Lecture Series held each year at the AudiologyNOW! Convention.
“Henning has the uncanny ability to be on top of every detail, keep us focused on the time and tasks at hand and yet, create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages knowledge sharing and partnership building,” said Vice President of Sales Jim Kothe. “And in the midst of it all, he manages to have a great sense of humor that keeps people connected, energized, and coming back again and again.”
