Starkey announced that its Chief Health Officer, Archelle Georgiou, MD, has been named a 2022 Women’s Health Leadership TRUST Award winner in the Health and Wellbeing category. This local award honors Minnesota women in healthcare who are “boldly advancing the industry, in addition to caring for the well-being of individuals, organizations, and the community.”
“I want to congratulate Archelle on this well-deserved recognition,” said Starkey President and CEO Brandon Sawalich. “Her dedication to improving the overall health of our patients, as well as our employees, is helping people understand that better hearing isn’t just nice to have, but essential. We are continuing to push the boundaries of innovation to help patients hear better and live better, every day.”
As a nationally renowned physician and medical executive, Dr Georgiou remains the hearing industry’s “first and only Chief Health Officer.” Working to improve the wellness and quality of life for people with hearing loss, Dr Georgiou was instrumental with the launch of Starkey’s “newest and most advanced line of hearing aids to date, Evolv AI,” according to the company. These hearing aids have embedded sensors to help patients with their overall healthcare management, such as activity tracking, social engagement, and virtual assistant tools for medication reminders, ‘find my hearing aids,’ language translation, and more. With the leadership of Dr Georgiou, Evolv AI “set the stage for an entirely new hearing ecosystem that uniquely emphasizes hearing’s impact on overall health and wellness.”
“I believe that if more people were aware of the connection between better hearing and improved overall health outcomes, less people would delay addressing their hearing loss,” said Dr Georgiou. “For that reason, I am incredibly passionate about raising awareness for this cause, and my hope is that my work will help our patients live richer, more fulfilled lives.”
