Starkey Laboratories Inc, Eden Prairie,  Minn, introduces the Starkey Audiology Series, a series of opinion papers from renowned experts in the field of audiology.

Four issues will be published this year, featuring James Jerger, PhD, Deborah Hayes, PhD, Catherine Palmer, PhD, and Robert Sweetow, PhD. The articles will be accompanied by an online open bulletin board where readers can post comments, questions, critiques, and requests for more information from the authors.

“We are excited to launch the Starkey Audiology Series to provide thought-provoking articles about audiology topics,” says Barry Freeman, PhD, the company’s director of education and training. “We hope that people will enjoy the opinions expressed in these articles and share their insights on our online bulletin board at StarkeyPro.com.”

Freeman and Jerry Northern, PhD, are in charge of compiling and editing the series. Freeman was chair and a professor in the audiology department at Nova Southeastern University in Florida and spent more than 20 years in private practice. He also served as president and as a member of the board of directors for the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), from which he received the distinguished achievement award in 2006. Northern is a prolific writer with two textbooks on his roster including Hearing in Children (5th edition, 2003) and Hearing Disorders. He served as professor of otolaryngology and director of audiology services at the University of Colorado School of Medicine for 26 years and is a former editor of Audiology Today, as well as a founding member of the AAA and former president of the organization.
