The rechargeable completely-in-canal device features directional microphone technology designed to improve speech understanding in noise.
Signia has announced the U.S. market availability of its Insio Charge&Go CIC IX, a custom-made, rechargeable completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aid equipped with directional microphone technology. The device is designed to provide users with a discreet form factor while offering up to 35 hours of battery life and a 5X speech enhancement in noisy environments compared to single-microphone CIC models, according to the company.
The Insio Charge&Go CIC IX incorporates Binaural OneMic Directionality 2.0 technology, which allows a pair of hearing aids to wirelessly synchronize and share information to form a directional beam. This feature is part of the Integrated Xperience (IX) platform and enables advanced directionality in a small, custom-fit device.
“For many Americans with hearing loss, discretion and performance have historically been mutually exclusive,” says Kerrie Coughlin, vice president brand marketing at WS Audiology, in a release. “By making Insio Charge&Go CIC IX available in the US, we’re providing hearing care professionals (HCPs) with access to a rechargeable, custom CIC solution that delivers meaningful speech understanding in noise—without asking patients to compromise on design or convenience.”
Performance in Noise
According to a recent study cited by Signia, the technology in the Insio Charge&Go CIC IX provides a 7 dB improvement in signal-to-noise ratio over competitor CICs, which corresponds to a 5X greater speech enhancement in noise. A second study confirmed this level of enhancement provides a significant boost in speech understanding during conversations in noisy settings. The device is intended to help wearers remain engaged in challenging listening environments such as crowded restaurants or family gatherings.
Device and Patient Features
The Insio Charge&Go CIC IX is custom-molded and available in three color options and multiple performance levels to suit different patient needs. Its rechargeable battery is designed to eliminate the need for frequent battery changes, making the CIC style accessible to a wider range of users.
“Hearing care is never one-size-fits-all,” says Coughlin. “Different patients need different solutions to fit into their lives. Expanding the Integrated Xperience portfolio allows hearing care professionals to meet those needs while maintaining performance where it matters most—in real-world conversations.”
