WSA, the parent company of Signia and Widex, has been responding to a cybersecurity incident reportedly caused by unauthorized access to some of its IT systems.

According to the company, WSA took certain internal and customer-facing IT systems offline as a precautionary measure and to contain the incident, and these systems are now being restored in a phased and prioritized manner.

Widex and Signia hearing aids are not affected, but some software and apps have been.

Widex Compass Cloud was taken offline as part of the containment activities but is now fully functional and all Widex hearing aids, including Widex Allure and Allure AI, can be fitted as usual.

A WSA spokesperson emphasizes that “this security threat was not caused by WSA’s cloud-based software, and it is safe to resume using WCC for Widex patients.”

The Widex Moment app is expected to be restored over the weekend. The Widex Allure app remains working as normal.

All Signia hearing aids can be fitted and fine-tuned as normal, while Signia TeleCare is expected to be reinstated by early next week.

According to WSA, all e-commerce sites are fully functional, with orders still able to be placed through the sites and current orders continuing to be processed and shipped.

The company issued an update on the issue today:

WSA has been responding to a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to certain IT systems. As soon as the incident was identified, we took immediate action and worked with our global IT partners to contain the situation.

The incident related to WSA’s own IT environment. Our business operations and core services have continued to operate but with some interruptions due to our containment activities.

As a precautionary measure and to further support containment efforts, WSA proactively took some IT systems offline while our technical teams investigated. These systems are now being restored in a phased and prioritized manner.

We would like to thank our customers for your patience and support. We remain focused on completing the restoration process while continuing to deliver our services without further disruption.

WSA will likely issue updates as this story develops.
