On Monday evening, September 10, 2018, Pacific University—Oregon’s School of Audiology held its 7th White Coat Ceremony, the Oregon-based private university announced. This year, the Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program welcomed its largest incoming cohort to date: 27 students.
Founded in 2012, Pacific University’s AuD program is reportedly “the first and only” program in the state of Oregon and is the second-largest program in the nation. It is described as an accelerated, 3-year program which follows an innovative, block-style curriculum. Also of note, according to the university’s announcement, is that the School of Audiology is home to simulation and teaching labs, offering its students round-the-clock access to diagnostic (audiometric and electrophysiologic) and amplification equipment. In all, there are nine practice stations or “Pods,” allowing students to practice outside of the testing suites located in their on-campus clinic, the Pacific EarClinic. So far, in its brief history, Pacific University has 87 graduates practicing audiology all across the United States as well as abroad!
