Binaural hearing aid fittings have completely changed the hearing healthcare landscape for the better. However, the road to this particular “best practice”—with probably around 85% of all of today’s fittings involving two hearing aids—was not a smooth one in the United States.
Previously, it was assumed that all auditory information was equally transmitted via the auditory pathways from the ear to the cerebral cortex. The current recordings of the increased activity of the vMGB show that the processing of the auditory information begins before the auditory pathways reach the cerebral cortex.
Meditation has been shown to cause physiological and neurological changes, enhancing a range of cognitive processes and self-regulation abilities, including temporal resolution ability, speech perception in noise, cognition, and auditory processing.
Read MoreResearchers at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine have published findings from two studies of EEG testing, showing that certain types of EEG tests may help clinicians understand and treat schizophrenia with new approaches related to auditory processing.
