In celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month in May, the Deafness Research Foundation (DRF), New York, a partner in the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) It’s a Noisy Planet. Protect Their Hearing campaign, will hold a drawing contest for children and teens ages 5 to 18.
The contest aims to raise awareness about the need to prevent hearing loss and the steps children are taking to protect their hearing. The deadline to submit original artwork to DRF is April 16. Click here for more information.
Three finalists will be selected from each age category and voted on by the public on DRF’s Web site during the weeks of April 19 and 30. A winner from each age category will be announced on May 3 on the Web site.
Winners will receive a framed certificate and their artwork will be printed in the summer 2010 issue of DRF’s quarterly publication, Hearing Health magazine.
DRF has partnered with the NIDCD’s campaign to increase awareness among parents of children ages 8 to 12 about the causes and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss. Click here for more information on this campaign.
