Turtle Beach Corporation, San Diego, Calif, announced the appointment of Bruce Thompson as eastern regional vice president of its HyperSound Hearing Solutions. This month the company received FDA clearance to market its HyperSound Audio System as a hearing improvement device and, according to the Turtle Beach announcement, Mr. Thompson joins the company as it prepares to launch this new directed audio solution for the hearing health market in 2015.
Mr. Thompson brings 25 years of relevant sales experience to the company, most recently as Midwest Regional Vice President at Unitron hearing.
“I am confident Bruce will be a strong addition to our team as we ramp up our sales infrastructure ahead of the launch of our new HyperSound Hearing Health Solution,” said Rodney Schutt, SVP and general manager of HyperSound.
According to the company, HyperSound is a new approach to sound delivery that uses thin panels to generate an ultrasound beam that carries audio through the air. The panels direct sound in a narrow, controlled beam, much the way a flashlight directs a beam of light. Listening to the immersive 3D audio is said to be similar to wearing a surround sound headset. The characteristics of the HyperSound audio beam have been shown to improve the clarity of audio and speech comprehension in individuals with certain types of hearing loss.
