Oticon Inc, Somerset, NJ, has announced the untimely passing of hearing healthcare industry colleague and friend Ken Saiki on Wednesday, April 1. In an announcement from Oticon, the company described Saiki as “a valued member of the Oticon family for 24 years, who touched many with his quiet professionalism and unwavering dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of people with hearing loss.”
Saiki was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a master’s degree in audiology. He worked as an audiologist in clinical settings for several years before joining Oticon in 1991. According to Oticon, Saiki took great pride in his work as midwest account manager, meeting the needs of hearing care professionals in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin and helping them to grow their practices. Over his many years in the hearing healthcare field, Saiki developed lasting partnerships and counted many as friends. He was passionate about audiology, Oticon reports, and was a tireless advocate for the important role of hearing care professionals.
“The world of audiology has lost a talented professional who cared deeply about the communities he served,” said Oticon President Peer Lauritsen. “Integrity and generosity were fundamental to his character. Always friendly and easygoing, Ken was also resourceful and determined, and quick to offer support–a kind word or whatever was needed. We have lost a dear friend and a treasured colleague.”
