The Starkey Hearing Foundation, based in Minneapolis, Minn, announced that Christopher B. Coleman, Mayor of the City of Saint Paul, has proclaimed Sunday, July 26, 2015 to be William F. Austin Day.
Austin is the founder, owner, and CEO of Starkey Hearing Technologies, and the founder of Starkey Hearing Foundation.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Starkey Hearing Foundation’s So the World May Hear Awards Gala, held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Saint Paul RiverCentre. The So the World May Hear Awards Gala is considered Minnesota’s largest fundraising event, reportedly raising more than $8.7 million in 2014. Donations are used to provide thousands of free hearing aids to children and adults, and support hearing health programs and initiatives nationwide and around the world.
“The City of Saint Paul is delighted to honor William F. Austin for his commitment to using hearing as a vehicle to reflect caring and change lives around the world,” said Mayor Coleman. “Because of Mr Austin’s vision, passion, and commitment to hearing technology, Minnesota—and the world—has become a better place.”
