In response to members’ requests for assistance with the cost of addressing hearing loss issues, UFCW Local 876 President Roger Robinson developed the first ever UFCW Local 876 Hearing Benefits program by partnering with Hearing Care Network LLC, says a statement releaesd by UFCW, Madison Heights, Mich.
Local 876 of the United Food and Commercial Workers recently signed an agreement with Hearing Care Network, Waterford, Mich, to provide a range of free and discounted hearing care services through a statewide network of participating audiologists, hearing aid providers, and hearing aid manufacturer Siemens.
The agreement also covers UFCW members’ immediate families and UFCW retirees, according to Robinson, whose local represents more than 17,000 workers across Michigan. "Members are automatically preapproved to use the program, regardless of any other private, employer, or government insurance program they may already have," Robinson said in the statement.
Hearing Care Network President Ted Lakkides said that HCN has 13 network providers in Michigan and one in Ohio, and expects to have additional providers as additional organizations sign up for HCN services.
UFCW Local 876 represents members in several industries including grocery, retail drug, food processing, automotive supply, and a variety of employers including Meijer, Kroger, and Rite Aid.
