EarQ in Peru

Andrew Hebert, vice president of EarQ, was part of the October 2015 hearing mission in Peru.

EarQ has announced that its representatives joined the Starkey Hearing Foundation in October 2015 to help nearly 19,000 men, women, and children in the Peruvian cities of Piura and Iquitos receive hearing care and technology.

Under the guidance of hearing healthcare professionals in attendance, the EarQ team, which sponsored the mission, helped fit thousands of individuals with customized hearing devices and re-experience the joy of their world.

EarQ notes that currently, approximately 360 million people worldwide have hearing loss. A recent study found nearly 7% of Peruvian school children had hearing loss and that they were 4-7 times more likely to experience hearing loss than children in higher-income countries.

“It was an honor and a privilege to deliver the joy of hearing better to so many special people,” said Ed Keller, president of EarQ. “As a team, we are passionate about driving more people to understand the power of hearing better, and this experience has helped fuel our desire to cause a change in the way hearing loss and devices are viewed.”

EarQ is a nationwide network of independent hearing healthcare providers. The organization utilizes business and marketing practices, as well as national public awareness efforts, to advocate for excellence in the industry and in patient care. Through its 1,400 hearing healthcare provider locations nationwide, EarQ helps provide greater access to hearing healthcare services and products.
