Dr Gyl Kasewurm, audiologist and owner of Dr Kasewurm’s Professional Hearing Services, announced that Dr Gyl’s Courage Building Summit recently took place in St Joseph, Michigan. According to Dr Kasewurm, a total of 82 women in the hearing healthcare field from all parts of the country, including Alaska, “descended upon the little town in southwestern Michigan to hear 18 awesome female speakers discuss the most recent developments in business and in life,” while another 40+ women participated in the virtual program.
This conference was the “first-ever meeting that focused specifically on the female perspective of common issues that women face each day” and the program included speakers sharing real-life strategies and stories “to help attendees conquer difficult situations in their businesses and lives in addition to offering advice on how to operate a more successful business.”
Kasewurm organized “DrGyl’s Women of Wonder” during the pandemic to offer a place to “inspire, enlighten, and empower every woman to become her most awesome self.”
“The hearing healthcare field is 88% female, and I just wanted to form a group that would specifically cater to the needs of women,” said Kasewurm. “There were so many additional burdens during the pandemic that were added to the already overwhelming lives that many women faced as busy professionals and business owners. I wanted to host a meeting that would leave women feeling empowered and energized.”
The event featured several keynote speakers: Sally Lou Loveman, a former audience manager for the The Oprah Winfrey Show; Jennifer Louden, a personal growth pioneer who helped launch the concept of self-care with her first bestseller, The Woman’s Comfort Book, and Archelle Georgiou, MD, a physician, author, Chief Health Officer at Starkey, and health reporter were featured at the meeting. In addition to Kasewurm and the other DrGyl admins, participants included AU Bankaitis Smith, Nichole Kingham, Noel Crosby, and D’Anne Rudden.
The meeting also featured a scavenger hunt in downtown St Joseph.
“I’m excited and honored to have been able to host these amazing women and to showcase the beauty and many special attractions in Michigan’s Great Southwest. Hopefully, this will become an annual event,” said Kasewurm.
