AG Bell, Washington, has launched two new Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) that are available to all current members of the organization.
The SIGs were proposed by AG Bell members, affirmed by the membership, and approved by the board of directors.
- The LSL Students and New Professionals SIG brings together graduate students in speech-language pathology, deaf education, audiology, and related fields with practicing professionals in the field of listening and spoken language. The group aims to make connections, network, share experiences and best practices, assist others in preparing for the Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS) certification exam, find mentors, and encourage the next generation of professionals in listening and spoken-language fields.
- The CI Users SIG offers a forum for sharing experiences of people who use cochlear implants (CI), and for those seeking information about how to navigate the process of receiving an implant and learning to interpret sound in their environment. This SIG is lead by a dynamic and successful CI user who received a CI at age 30, says the organization.
To access SIGs, log in to www.agbell.org, sign in, and click "Shared Interest Groups." SIGs are an AG Bell member benefit, and those who would like to become members may click here to join.
