I recently got an Apple Watch series 4 and have not been able to pair it with my iPhone in order to hear music selected by using the BEYOND app on the watch.
The lack of support for android streaming is unforgivable pandering to a technology partner at the expense of paying customers.
“… live their lives the way they want.” Not exactly – if one wants to stream from an Android device, e.g., a Samsung TV. I agree with OP.
Will the app soon become available for Android device?
You never answered the question about no audio out on the TV for TV Dex. Is there an adaptor available?
I have really enjoy my new widex 440.
Im hearing things iv not herd in many many years. Only problem i have had on and off is that when getting a phone call and then hang up it wont go back to universal, it will stay on Dex or streaming mode, some thing to do with the app, other then that i give it a big 4 star.
After a great deal of research and trialing Oi finally have Widex 330. My wife says she’s got me back. No problems as I used to wear inadequate NHS hearing aids.tye aids come with all the ‘bits’ I need. Got a pack of ear tips and 4 years supply of batteries from Specsavers. …glad I took my time getting the right aids.
do widex beyond work with android fhones?
yes, my BF 2 states it does.
My Widex Beyond 440 hearing aids work beautifully with my old Samsung Galaxy phone. I use the streamer, which allows for hands-free operation; the clarity of phone calls is excellent.
I have the wydex 440 hearing aids, I have the com dex acc. and have just purchased the TV DEX. I can’t get them connected to my new 60″ Samsung TV. the AUDIO OUT ON THE TV IS A FEMALE RECEPTACLE AND THE LEADS THAT CAME WITH THE TV DEX [the RED and WHITE] NEED SOME SORT OF ADAPTOR. BEST BUY CAN’T help. ? in Tallahassee, Fl.
How do I pair my Widex Beyond hearing aids to my IMAC computer? I need to take online courses for work, but I have trouble hearing without it streaming to my hearing aids.
Terrible. Drops out constantly. I can’t get widex or apple interested in helping me. They just keep blowing me off. I don’t have hearing loss. I have misophonia. I need the music streaming to block noise. I even bought anew iPhone for this because the concept is great but the execution in very lacking. It makes my situation worse. Now I’m stuck with an iPhone and hearing aids I can’t use
Hi Janet – I had the same issue – turns out all I needed was to go back to the audiologist and get the firmware updated. It took 10 minutes and now it works beautifully! Good luck with yours.
The iphone allows that update through the app store. I did mine about a month after getting them. Still a little crackle here and there. They also like to fade away from a good connection after 10 -15 minutes use.
I am considering buying the Widex Beyond 440. From what I read one can stream phone calls (has to talk into iPhone mic?) and can listen to music/sound from iPhone. If anyone has experience with the quality of sound in these blue tooth connected situations I would appreciate your sharing your experience especially that it seems there is unreliability in interruption of the wireless connection? Also I assume these have rechargeable batteries, how long does a charge last?
Thanks
The connectivity is better after the software upgrade, but still a bit iffy from time to time. Batteries last about a week. The sound quality is good streaming from the iPhone.
My sister purchased Widex Beyond 330 as recommended by her doctor. She says she gets headaches since wearing them and the batteries go fast. Will the headaches stop? Is this a side effect that is common?
Hi Lynne,
I’ve had my 330s for about 8 months now and I haven’t experienced the headache issue, but they can take a while to get used to. It is just a different sensation having something in and around your ear, so that could be a contributing factor. I had done a lot of research and was advised by my doctor that the batteries generally only last about a week. I work from home and it’s quiet in the morning, so I wait to put them in until by family starts getting out of bed and need to hear conversations, so that does help with battery life just a bit.
I have use the Beyond for about five weeks. My life Fas changed. Hearing dialogue even in a crowded room is superb.
But, I love music. Now, I can hear lyrics; actually, fir the first time.
Even more amazing is live music w the iphone app on the music selection. The violin and piano are transparent. I can hear the wood in the instruments. Moving from the universal setting, which definitely improve lyrics, to the music setting is like going from a $300 set of loudspeakers to a $100,000 system. You really get a sense of roundness, space, air, and three dimensional sound. They actually image the live performance. I have never heard anything like it before. Cymbals, piano, hotns, voices: spectacular. Jazz, classical, singer songwriter: all perfect.
If you suffer from hearing loss and live music, buy these hearing aids. If you love music and excellent sound, you might consider buying them as well. These are the most expensive hearing devices for music that you can imagine e. But, without the Widex Beyonds, you will never hear live music so well presented.
Highly recommended.
A music lover from Atlanta.
I have had a pair of Widex Beyonds for three months now and like them very much. The iPhone link works very well for me, no cutouts. The range for speech is very short, but it works fine in my pocket as long as the batteries are new. It rings in my ear even if the phone is upstairs and I’m downstairs.
What I’ve found out is the batteries make a big difference, freshness for sure and maybe brand.
If I’ve used the batteries more than 2 days the phone link begins cutting out.
I’ve tried three different brands so far. PowerOne (amazon) work the best. The freebies from the audiologist (no brand name) don’t work well at all. The Rayovac are so-so.
This is for an iPhone 6l; other phones might be different.
I also have the TV link which is great when it works. Same thing with the batteries. When the batteries are low the range goes way down and I get strange clicking noises.
I am on my second paid of beyonds, having returned the first pair, tried the oticon open, and then switched back. The Widex App does make my phone ring in my ear (both ears) but this means I usually cannot locate my phone by sound if I am not holding it. In contrast, calls only stream to one ear. Also the sound is so low I prefer NOT to stream. This is the updated App- so my read is that it is more trouble than it is worth. It app reads to interfere with SIRI on my iPhone 6, as well– and it uses batteries up. That said the Oticon was not better, I think sound delivery is slightly better with WIDEX, and the guarantee was 3 years for wide versus 2 for Oticon.
I also purchased the Widex Beyond in Jan. Have issues with my left aide staying connected to my iPhone. When they work they are awesome. Is there a fix for this? Updated the app a few weeks ago. worked for about a week and having connectivity issues again. Audiologist sent them back, got new ones and still same issues? Any help would be great.
I cannot complete pairing process. I never get the box to pair and one hearing aid shows 100 percent while the second just continues to spin (as in can’t pair). As a result, I only hear my I-phone in one year, never both. Any suggestions?
I’m in my first week with the Widex Beyond aides. Love them other than the very short range when streaming. Work great if I hold my phone in front of me but cuts out severely if I put my phone in my pants pocket – sort of defeats the purpose of being wireless! I thought maybe my phone was the problem and I was due for an upgrade anyway so I spent the money to get an iPhone 7. Same problem. Any help?
You might want to try other batteries. I think some have 1.4 V while others have 1.45 volts. Maybe that or something else in the batteries may make a difference, it is worth a try. If that doesnt work, exchange them and try other hearing aids. I had the same issues with Linx2 in beginning, then I changed batteries, also the Linx app was updated as well as iOS. Something definetely improved so that I can wear the iphone in my pocket without cutouts.
debating on purchasing the Beyond2 for my 14yr old son. Would love some info about use with Xbox One? If he wears the com-dex can he stream music from his phone and switch to the gaming console. Also, does it easily switch when wifi is on, he usually only streams through wifi? seems to be some concerns about ease of switching and use of iphone app with wifi on..looking for info before I spend a fortune..thanks
Hi Jody. I do use the Com-Dex for streaming music from my phone, but I haven’t tried it with a gaming console. I don’t have an Xbox, but I do have a PS4. I recently started playing online games on my laptop and have no issue switching back and forth. You would just have to turn off the pairing for one and then turn the pairing on for the other and it takes just a few seconds.
When will the application allow you to find a lost hearing aid? GPS
They just released update to make compatible with Droid phones and gps locator! I am fitting this aid now and it is the best I’ve ever fit, awesome features and sound quality!!!
I have had a pair of Widex Beyond for about 2 weeks. The sound quality is excellent. And when the iPhone is connected, it’s great to have phone calls stream directly into the hearing aids. BUT, the hearing aids randomly lose their connection to the iPhone, so if a call comes in, it may or may not come through the hearing aids. I need to constantly check on the App to see whether they’re still connected, and then open and close the battery doors to get the hearing aids to reconnect. I contacted Widex and they sent back a long protocol to try to solve the problem (forgetting the devices, turning Bluetooth and wi-fi off and on, rebooting the phone, etc.). Not only did it not solve the problem, which initially was only with one of the devices, now both sides randomly disconnect! In addition, streaming media, like NPR, the sound quality is often poor, with lots of static and noise. These hearing aids replaced the comparable Oticon Opn ones, which I had to return because they didn’t fit properly into my ears. But the Oticon software was much better and more reliable.
I had the same problem with my left hearing aid. I was also eating batteries (lasted only 2/3 days). Florida Medical Hearing Center called Widex and they replaced the defective hearing aid. I’m impressed, they overnighted the new hearing aid. I’ve only had it a few hours but I’m hoping for the best.
Does anyone have advise about getting Widex Dream or Widex Beyond? On Dec 9th I had Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss with severe hearing loss and tinnitus in my left ear. I have mild/moderate hearing loss in my right. The audiologist gave me a brow Hurd for Widex Dream. Any sincere advise is appreciated.
I have mild/moderate hearing loss in both ears, along with pulsing tinnitus. I got the Widex Beyond and love them compared to the Oticon OPN that I had previously. I did have some Bluetooth connectivity issues initially, but that has since been resolved with the recent update. These aids allow me to hold a conversation while moderating loud background noise. I have recruitment sound sensitivity and these aids also help minimize the discomfort associated with that. While I haven’t used the Dream model, I highly recommend the Beyond if you lead a fairly social/active life.
Recently got fitted for these – was trying Resounds before. The sound quality of these is MUCH better. Love the ability to adjust them myself incl bass, treble and mids as well as volume, which I do differently in different settings. The music setting is awesome – makes it sound as if you are in a small concert hall. Streaming works very well for phone and music. Only wish is that it were easier to switch between iOS devices e.g. iPhone and iPad.
I’ve had my Widex Beyond aids for a month. Within 4 days I realized I must have a dud pair. My right one chirps and squeals (for lack of a better word), and goes through batteries every 3 days. My left one has begun doing the same after 3 weeks. I love the sound clarity though this is my first pair of hearing aids, so I have nothing to compare them with. It is nice to hear! The streaming, for me, from my iPhone , is pretty terrible. I love to listen to music while working , and it breaks up constantly. I no longer use that option. It is nice for phone calls, since all sound comes straight through the aids , as mentioned in another post, you do need to speak into your IPhone microphone to reply to your caller. When using the app , when connected to Bluetooth, I notice the batteries seem to die even more quickly. I am going for my third appt with my audiologist next week to return this pair for a new pair, as we are hoping it’s just s defective set. I will follow up to the review, after the next pair. I truly believe these are just so new, the glitches have not been worked out yet. I may go back to last years Widex equivalent hearing aids before Bluetooth was put in.
i have the Beyond 440 paired to an iphone 6. this is my first HAID, so i have no point of comparison. i do have several issues:
1. streaming music from my iTunes library works perfectly, but only if the wifi is turned off. with wifi on, every 4-5 seconds the sound stream is interrupted. why?
2. streaming a podcast or online audio over LTE sometimes the sound becomes monaural. there doesn’t seem to be a consistent way to correct this.
3. i can’t seem to be able to pair my HAID to my laptop (a 2016 macbook pro). thus there is no way to stream directly the audio from a movie. i can connect the laptop to my iphone using the Airfoil app, but that causes a time lapse with the audio stream. also, i believe that airfoil uses apple’s AirTalk capability, which depends on access to iCloud. thus there would be no way to use this laptop->iphone streaming solution in a place where you didn’t have iCloud connectivity, such as an airplane.
I sent an email to Widex customer service describing this last problem, but as yet have heard nothing.
I’ve had the Widex Beyond for a few weeks. I’m also looking into solution to pair to my Macbook Pro. So far, the only direct solution seems to be to buy the TV-Dex from Widex. My audiologist says it’s around $300. I’m currently looking into the possibility of whether a bluetooth dongle could do the trick, although I’m not optimistic. I haven’t tried the Airfoil method. I also considered trying to hardwire a line from the Macbook Pro headphone jack into the iPhone jack. (You need a special adapter.) I’ve been looking into iPhone apps that could allow me to live monitor incoming sound, and then bluetooth from those apps. This is all still experimental. I don’t really feel like shelling out $300 for something that should be much simpler.
Buy some good quality head phones instead. I use noise cancelling with ambient audio mic’s on. A much better quality of audio.
Question: Is this worth switching from a ReSound Lynx?
I have been using a phonac hearing aid in my left ear since 2010 ( I have menieres in this ear, with a 65% hearing loss in left ear) I was tested yesterday and shows a 45% loss in the right ear now along with the 65% in left. They suggested the widex Beyond 330 Fusion. It will take 2 to 2 1/2 weeks for them to come in so I can be properly fitted.
I realize this product has only been on the market for approx. a month so there may not be many reviews yet, however, I would appreciate any info both positive and negative. I’m really nervous about using a different brand other than phonac but I have an iPhone and these seem to fit my needs if they work well. Thank you
I’m unclear on one thing: it can stream (music etc) from the iPhone, but does it also stream phone conversations too? Will incoming calls/text “ring” in the ear?
Just fit with these today, previously a local Oticon wearer, but yes, streams calls, and I understand other audio alerts, to the HA. Still have to use the phone for the microphone. Significant improvement in hearing immediately, but will take some time to adjust. The phone app allows you to change programs, adjust volume, balance, has an equalizer and more. My partner has had them for two weeks and is hearing much better, so I thought I would give them a try.
Again a beauty from Widex.
FINALLY. The Widex company puts the user FIRST – this device has iPhone compatibility, Dex compatibility and a T-coil (Telecoil) and all this in a small elegant device. THANK YOU Widex!

I’m anxious to know whether you have a plan to make Beyond available for (compatible to) Android.
Hello, this year I have purchased a set of Widex hearing aids–“Unique 440.” I am afraid that after having paid for them, they are not working for me as I had hoped. I wondered if the new “BEYOND2” might be better for for me? Thank you.
Hi Philip,
It might be best if you return to your audiologist to inquire about the BEYOND2 as potentially a better fit for you. Your audiologist will have your individual test results and needs, and therefore would be the best person to re-fit your aids and answer your questions about getting more out of your hearing aids.
What if you have an Android phone? My Com Dex used to work pretty well with my Android phone but now bumps me out of Mute mode all the time. I wonder if when my phone updates, this affects the Com Dex? If so, is there any setting that can be adjusted to ensure compatibility? Does Widex update the Com Dex app technology regularly? Can the Com Dex be used with the new BEYOND hearing aids?
Thanks!
The Widex Unique 440 is equivalent (in terms of sound quality/technology/performance) to the Widex Beyond 440. The only change/update is the iPhone compatibility.
Masterpiece from Widex
Can’t wait to start fitting these lil puppies…..
