Hot, humid climates and summer months wreak havoc on hearing aids that aren’t protected from these hazards, notes ReSound, Bloomington, Minn, which introduces iSolate nanotech on all of its Live and dot2 BTE hearing aids to protect against moisture and sweat.

Nanotechnology is increasingly used across diverse industries, including professional sportswear and high-tech mobile devices. ReSound uses nanopolymer coating technology  as an integrated part of iSolate™ nanotech.

iSolate nanotech works by coating all elements of the hearing instrument with a thin protective layer that bonds at a molecular level with the internal and external components, shielding them without affecting their performance. Whenever moisture comes in contact with any element of the hearing instrument–including internal electrical components–it will simply bead up and roll off without being absorbed.

The company says that it utilizes a special application process that insures 360° protection of the hearing aid. Hearing instruments are placed in an airtight chamber in which a vacuum is created before applying the nanocoating. The vacuum ensures all internal and external parts of the hearing instruments are thoroughly coated and sealed.
