Oticon, Inc announced the expansion of its Oticon More family to “enable even more veterans and active duty personnel to benefit from the innovative hearing solution’s superior sound quality.” Now available through the Veterans Affairs Administration (VA), Department of Defense (DOD), and other federal agencies, the new Oticon More miniRITE T with disposable batteries and the portable SmartCharger allow VA and government audiologists to “better match each patient’s lifestyle, needs, and preferences.” The new rechargeable Oticon CROS PX transmitter, compatible with Oticon More, extends the Oticon CROS family for veterans with single-sided deafness.

Oticon More takes Oticon’s revolutionary BrainHearing technology to the next level, according to the company. The world’s “first hearing solution to incorporate an on-board Deep Neural Network (DNN), it works more like how the brain works because it learned through experience.”

“This new approach to sound processing delivers a sound quality that clinical test results show 8 out of 10 people prefer*,” said Rob Zimmer, director of government services for Oticon, Inc. “With more styles, more features, and more charging options, the expanded Oticon More family empowers VA audiologists to bring outstanding sound quality to even more veterans.”

More Styles, More Options to Fit Veterans’ Lifestyles

For veterans who prefer disposable batteries, the new Oticon More miniRITE T style joins the existing rechargeable miniRITE R style. Both contain a telecoil and Bluetooth Low Energy technology for device connectivity. The new MicroShell further expands patient options, offering an integrated, custom mold option for non-power receivers.

The new Oticon SmartCharger allows veterans to “enjoy more life on the go while keeping Oticon More powered up, dry, and protected.” The SmartCharger includes a protective lid and a built-in power bank for convenient charging without access to a power outlet. The drying function helps automatically removes moisture from the hearing aids.

Next Generation Connectivity

Oticon More miniRITE T and Oticon More miniRITE R feature Bluetooth Low Energy technology and offer “an extensive range of connectivity options to support high-quality listening in everyday situations.” Oticon More is a Made for iPhone (MFi) hearing aid and compatible with the new Android protocol for Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA), making it possible to stream directly from Apple and selected Android mobile devices.** Oticon More can be combined with Oticon ConnectClip to stream from any other Bluetooth device.

Dual-streaming for Single-Sided Deafness

The new rechargeable Oticon CROS PX solution joins the non-rechargeable Oticon CROS. TwinLink dual-streaming technology in both solutions “allows patients to access all relevant sounds in challenging listening environments and enjoy wireless streaming at the same time.” In addition to Oticon More-compatibility, the new Oticon CROS PX transmitter is forward and backwards compatible with hearing aids used with the current Oticon CROS including Oticon More, Oticon Opn S, Oticon Opn Play, Oticon Xceed, Oticon Xceed Play, and Oticon Ruby***.

More Optimal Fitting from the Start

The new MyMusic program is “tailor-made to help patients rediscover their love of music.” The music-oriented signal processing program helps “capture the complex dynamics of music much better than attempting to apply ordinary speech processing strategies to music.”

Continuous improvements to Oticon Genie 2 enable hearing care professionals to fit and fine-tune Oticon More across in-clinic and remote visits. The new Fitting Assistant provides a guided questionnaire and pre-programed fitting adjustments. Genie 2 now includes new In-situ Audiometry for Oticon RemoteCare and new background noise level meter. The ProbeGUIDE integration helps support correct insertion and placement of the probe tube for more accurate fittings.
