The society will celebrate the milestone with year-long events under the theme “Uniting Generations, Advancing Hearing Care.”
The International Hearing Society (IHS) is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2026, marking its history of serving hearing healthcare professionals who specialize in hearing evaluations and hearing aid services. The society announced it will commemorate the milestone with a focus on its four cornerstones: advocacy, relationships, communication, and education.
“For seven-and-a-half decades, our Society has stood as a constant source of guidance and a model of standards in a healthcare sector that continues to evolve rapidly,” says Michael Andreozzi, BS, BC-HIS, president of IHS, in a release. “As we honor our 75-year legacy, we look ahead with optimism. We are committed to developing our Society to reflect the needs of today’s hearing healthcare professionals, who are more connected, more innovative, and more equipped for the ever-changing future.”
Profession Growth and Demand
The anniversary comes at a time of increasing demand for hearing healthcare professionals. According to a recent report based on data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Hearing Aid Specialist was ranked eighth among the top ten fastest-growing healthcare jobs, based on a projected growth rate from 2024 to 2034.
Anniversary Celebrations and Conference
IHS 75th anniversary celebrations will occur throughout the year, culminating at the IHS 2026 Conference & Expo in Washington, DC, from August 12-15. The event will feature networking opportunities, educational sessions, and a trainee masterclass for those preparing for licensure.
IHS is also inviting members and other interested parties to contribute to its legacy by sharing stories, photos, and historical artifacts related to the society through an online form.
