During Super Bowl week, Starkey Hearing Foundation founder, William Austin, will spearhead an effort by foundation staff, local volunteers, and celebrities to bring the gift of hearing to children in need in the Phoenix area.

The program, valued at $million, provides more than 400 new, digital hearing instruments at no cost to more than 200 children and is underwritten by a core of sponsorers that includes Discount Tire, IntriCon and Olevia. Fittings are January 31 at the Phoenix Convention Center.

The recipients of the new devices will also receive training on hearing instrument care as well as maintenance and a supply of hearing instrument batteries.

Celebrity guests on hand at the event will be two-time Grammy winner Kenny Loggins, Grammy winner Sam Moore, former NFL players Jacob Green, Nesby Glasgow, Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, Chuck Foreman, Carl Eller and Eric Wright, recording artist Lucy Walsh and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition producer Herb Ankrom.

Starkey Hearing Foundation partners with Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, local hearing professionals, Phoenix School Districts, hospitals and special education centers to identify and bring local children with hearing loss to the hearing mission.
