A Comparison of Performance in Children with Nonlinear Frequency Compression Systems

As found in a previous study, children with lower speech recognition/detection scores using aids with nonlinear frequency compression (NFC) benefited most when the NFC was available. NFC benefit was significantly correlated with higher levels of hearing loss, and some children show the additional effect of continued improvement over time, due to maturation, acclimatization effects, or both.
