Developed by the National Acoustic Laboratories, the system builds on NAL-NL2 and is designed for more precise, personalized hearing aid fittings. Hearing Australia is now using NAL-NL3, a new-generation hearing aid fitting prescription developed by its research division, the National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL). The system is designed to allow audiologists to personalize hearing aid fittings more precisely and improve speech clarity in noisy situations. NAL-NL3 builds on the widely used NAL-NL2 prescription and is set to become the new international standard, licensed to more than 90% of the global hearing aid manufacturer market. A More Personalized Approach to Hearing Care The NAL-NL3 Fitting System features a modern modular design, which enables clinicians to better address the diverse needs of individuals with hearing difficulties. The design allows the system to evolve and adapt over time. “We’re moving away from a one-size-fits-all prescription to a system that can continue to grow and adapt over time,” says Dr Brent Edwards, NAL director. “The NAL-NL3 Fitting System allows clinicians to better tailor hearing solutions to individual listening needs and real-world situations.” https://hearingreview.com/hearing-products/testing-equipment/fitting-equipment/why-do-hcps-need-nal-nl3 Clinical Use and Initial Feedback David McMaster, a Hearing Australia centre manager with hearing loss, was the initial person fitted with NAL-NL3. “The sound was immediately comfortable,” says McMaster. “I’m noticing better awareness of people talking to me – I'm catching what’s being said straight away. Speech is clear and crisp and at a really good volume. I’m looking forward to trying my hearing aids in a variety of situations.” Industry Collaboration and Global Launch The development of NAL-NL3 involved input from Hearing Australia clinicians, which NAL noted was central to the process. “The close partnership with Hearing Australia’s clinicians has been central to the development of NAL-NL3,” says Edwards. “The global launch reinforces NAL’s reputation for producing high-quality, evidence-based solutions trusted by clinicians and hearing aid manufacturers around the world.” Kim Terrell, Hearing Australia managing director, says the organization is proud to be the initial hearing provider to use the new system. “This collaboration with NAL reflects our shared commitment to clinical excellence and delivering better outcomes for the people we support every day,” says Terrell. “Hearing aid technology is evolving constantly and NAL-NL3 is a game changer for people with hearing loss.” Featured image: Hearing Australia
