Starkey announced that its Chief Innovation Officer, Dave Fabry, PhD, and Chief Health Officer Archelle Georgiou, MD, will deliver a keynote address during Digital Future Friday, helping to kick off the first-ever Digital EUHA Congress. Their presentation, “Putting the ‘AI’ in patient-centered hearing health care,” will explore how new technological breakthroughs are putting the power of artificial intelligence directly into the hands of patients, giving providers an even greater opportunity to help them hear better and live better lives. The virtual presentation will be delivered on October 9, at 2 pm CEST. You can register here. Participation is free of charge.

“As Starkey continues to develop new and innovative hearing healthcare technologies, needless to say, we are learning more and more about how these innovations are shaping the patient-provider relationship,” said Fabry. “We are delighted to share our insights and experience on this topic, as the industry continues to change at a rapid pace. We’d also like to thank the European Union of Hearing Acousticians and the German Hearing Instruments Industry Association for this opportunity to participate in the first-of-its kind Digital EUHA Congress.”

The annual October event is being held virtually this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with plans to return as an in-person event in 2021. Next Friday’s day-long event will kick off a month-long online lecture series, starting Saturday, October 10 and ending Thursday, November 8.

“While we are disappointed to not see our friends and partners from across Europe in person this year, we are grateful for the opportunity to keep our connection strong during this time of uncertainty,” said President and CEO Brandon Sawalich. “Over the course of 2020, one thing has become very clear: Hearing is essential. It’s perhaps never been more important to be connected to information than during a global health pandemic. We are here to support providers and patients however we can, to ensure those with hearing loss don’t lose their ability to communicate at such a critical time.”

Starkey’s Edge Mode technology, available only in Livio Edge AI devices, “has proven to be highly effective in resolving speech intelligibility challenges created by face masks with a simple double tap,” according to the company. Additionally, Starkey offers “the world’s first and only 2.4 GHz custom rechargeable hearing aid,” which won’t fall out when you remove a mask from behind your ears.
