Starkey Hearing Technologies‘ Made for iPhone hearing aid, the Halo 2, has been named by Inc. magazine as one of the “Top 7 Most Brilliant Product Designs of 2016.” The Halo 2, which won a “Best in Class” Iconic Design Award, was chosen for its innovative use of mobile technology and hearing technology to connect consumers to the world around them.
Listed as one of the “Top 7 Most Brilliant Product Designs of 2016,” Halo 2 was reportedly chosen for its sleek, nonintrusive design and powerful technology aimed at solving a real-world problem — helping those with hearing loss feel connected to their world through better hearing.
In its third year, Inc.’s Iconic Design Awards recognize the most innovative, creative, accessible and beautifully designed products designed and sold in America. Winners were selected by a panel of renowned design, retail, manufacturing, and marketing experts including Vivian Rosenthal, Jim Brett, Mona Patel, and Teran Evans.
“You’re winning a design award because you nailed a real-world problem,” said juror Mona Patel, CEO of Motivate Design, of the Halo 2 in the June issue of Inc. magazine.
A hearing aid that offers both better hearing and customizable lifestyle and entertainment features, the Halo 2 Made for iPhone enables connectivity by working with users’ smartphones to provide real-world benefits such as customized memories, remote control of hearing aid settings, and streaming of calls, music, and media.
“I’m a sci-fi fan, so the bionic aspect is very appealing on its own, but when you consider that people who have trouble hearing can feel isolated, being able to better connect to the world around them via their phones is empowering technology,” said juror Jim Brett, Inc.’s “Made” columnist and president of home décor outlet West Elm.
According to Starkey, today’s hearing aid wearers want more than better hearing. They want — and need — a hearing aid that can adapt to and function in all of the situations their lifestyles put them in without being obtrusive. Therefore, the company designed the Halo 2 to be slender and small, like users want, with the new quad core twin compressor technology and mobile integration that gives them the high-definition sound and lifestyle adaptability that they are looking for.
