What if the future is today? According to Oticon, the future is here. The company invites AudiologyNOW! 2016 participants to step into that future at the Oticon exhibit April 13-16 in Phoenix, Ariz, to discover the hearing technologies that “represent a quantum leap forward to the future of hearing care.”
Oticon, which develops, engineers and builds its hearing technologies in-house, announces that at the AAA Convention it will unveil the culmination of 5 years of research and development designed to transform expectations for the future to immediate benefits patients can enjoy today.
Oticon reports that, through hands-on interaction and virtual reality, exhibit visitors will experience how extreme speed and precise processing will significantly improve speech understanding and ease the load on the brain in complex listening environments. With 3D glasses and HD headsets, visitors will be able to virtually “take a seat at the table” to see and hear how new technologies will enable users to switch attention between conversations with ease, even in noisy situations with competing speakers.
At Oticon booth #831, the eyes have center stage in a demonstration of Pupillometry, a well-recognized measure of stress on the brain, that uses a 70-inch HD screen to show how new technologies will make it easier on the brain to understanding speech. Participants will have a chance to experience first-hand how less work for the brain frees up cognition to help people with hearing loss remember more of what they hear.
A bank of touch-screen video kiosks showcases futuristic-looking, but currently available applications of wireless connectivity taken to a dramatically new level. HD videos show the real-world functionality of this technological advance, while an interactive scale model demonstrates how each of the functionalities could be activated in a typical home.
