Medical News Today has reported the findings of a study conducted at the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center, Seattle, Wash,  that has concluded central auditory function can be affected by even mild memory impairment.

The study, titled "Central Auditory Dysfunction in Older Persons With Memory Impairment or Alzheimer Dementia" was administered by George A. Gates, MD, Melissa L. Anderson, MS, M. Patrick Feeney, PhD, Susan M. McCurry, PhD, and Eric B. Larson, MD, MPH, the results of which have just been published in the July issue of Archives of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.
