2020 ‘Lancet’ Commission Report Finds Untreated Hearing Loss in Midlife as ‘Largest Modifiable Risk Factor’
The study is an update to “The Lancet” Commission's 2017 report on dementia prevention, intervention, and adds head injury and harmful alcohol drinking, as well as air pollution exposure in later life, to the list of preventable causes of dementia. Untreated hearing loss in midlife remains the largest modifiable risk factor.
