Nearly 70 AUDNET Hearing Group Members, partners, and supporters made the trek to Bloomington, Minnesota and the Radisson Blu Mall of America June 14-15 for AUDNET Hearing Group’s first annual “Collaborative Empowerment Expo,” the health care group purchasing organization announced. This member conference, what AUDNET says was designed to “inform, inspire, and engage” the constituencies that collectively are AUDNET Hearing Group, brought exceptional speakers, powerful member expertise, valuable supplier information, and a lot of fun to the AHG member experience.
The conference theme was “Building Professional Care Value in Today’s Diverse Marketplace.”  The kick-off address by AUDNET Hearing Group’s CEO, Dr Greg Frazer, was followed by Dr Aaron Jones, Unitron’s director of product management and practice development, who spoke on “Giving Patients More of What They Expect.” Keynote speaker David Smriga, MA, vice-president, corporate communications for AUDNET Hearing Group, spoke on “Corporatization of Hearing Care in America: Revisiting What We Buy and Sell,” and “The OTC Future: How We Got Here and What We Can Do to Thrive in It.”  This was followed by invited speakers that included Stacy Long, president of Hear Billing Solutions who spoke on third-party billing solutions; Dr Robert Tysoe, who spoke on physician and disease state marketing, and Dr Steve Parent, who spoke on special events’ marketing.

A highlight of the conference was a presentation by Justin Osmond, founder and director of The Olive Osmond Hearing Fund, as well the younger brother of Donnie and Marie Osmond. Severely hearing impaired since birth, Justin has dedicated his life to “paying it forward” to those challenged to receive the hearing help they need. His stirring presentation highlighted not only his own remarkable journey, but the philanthropic work he is coordinating around the world to make a difference in the lives of those with hearing loss. AUDNET Hearing Group is proud to coordinate its members’ desire to give with The Olive Osmond Hearing Fund.
For more on Justin’s experience with hearing loss as well as his continuing work in hearing healthcare advocacy, see Hearing Review’s June “Inside the Research” column here.
The conference wrapped up with an exhilarating “Member Think Tank” where members worked in groups to bring their thoughts, ideas, and expectations together to help mold both the future of AUDNET Hearing Group and the content for future Collaborative Empowerment Expos.
AUDNET Hearing Group is looking forward to announcing the dates and location for its next Collaborative Empowerment Expo, and to continuing to build a powerful ongoing educational resource for the AHG membership.
