Unitron Hearing has announced the addition of the following key staff positions: Paul Giffin has been promoted to inside sales manager. He has been in the industry for 20 years in a variety of manufacturing and sales positions, and was most recently in the customer service management role; Jessie Thielbar has been promoted to inside sales representative for the upper Midwest region and the VA. She will be responsible for Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and the Dakotas, as well as all VA facilities. She has been in the industry for 5 years in sales and customer service roles; Jennifer Makula has been named inside sales representative for the Great Lakes region. Makula has over 7 years of industry experience with another manufacturer prior to joining Unitron Hearing. She will be responsible for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

DigiCare Hearing Research and Rehabilitation announces that Kristy Myers has been promoted to manager of accounting for the Colorado-based firm. Myers received her degree from the University of Colorado, and recently completed post-graduate work. She oversees internal audit, accounts payable and receiveable, and general accounting for DigiCare and its network of hearing health care professionals.

GN ReSound, Bloomington, Minn, has hired two new inside sales representatives. Deanna Serrano will be responsible for Texas, New Mexico, and the Albany area. Her responsibilities include educating customers about the products, services, and special programs offered by the company. She will partner with regional sales managers Kristin Schardein, Rennae Pickert, and Christopher Smith to help build relationships and meet the needs of hearing healthcare offices in their territories. Serrano brings to GN ReSound 3 years of sales experience in the hearing healthcare industry. The company has also hired Heidi Knudsen, who will be responsible for Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Her responsibilities will include educating customers about the products, services, and special programs offered by the company. In this new role, she will partner with regional sales managers Jamie Barber, Jason Bond, and Chris Smith to help build relationships and meet the needs of hearing healthcare offices in their territories. Knudsen brings to GN ReSound 4 years of sales experience in the hearing healthcare industry.

Siemens
Siemens Hearing Instruments Inc announces that four new field representatives have recently joined the Siemens team. With nearly 40 years of combined industry experience between them, these sales representatives were selected to connect Siemens with hearing care professionals across the US and Puerto Rico. The new representatives are: Denise B. Metalsky, field sales representative, California and Nevada; Michael Schmit, field sales representative, Florida and Puerto Rico; Dennis Tembreull, field sales representative, Pacific Northwest; and Jim Young, field sales representative, Michigan and Ohio.

Phonic Ear
Phonic Ear Inc, Petaluma, Calif, recently announced the appointment of a new CEO. After serving 20 years as president and CEO, former head Jim Mulford will be leaving the company to pursue other interests. Rick Pimentel, currently serving as the company’s executive vice president, will succeed him on May 1, 2003 as president and CEO. Pimentel joined Phonic Ear in 1969 as a sales representative, and has headed marketing and international sales for the company for the last 14 years. Under his leadership, Phonic Ear has continued to supply a broad range of products to meet the needs of hearing-impaired children and adults in school, home, work, and public places. The most recent product introduction under Pimentel’s management has been the Lexis ear-level wireless communication system.

Sonus Network
Sonus Network, Portland, Ore, announces the following new sales appointments: Carrie Jackson has been promoted to a new position as the network regional logistics and sales manager for the East region. Jackson has served as the network Northeast regional manager for over 4 years; Cindy Pope Ferreira has joined Sonus as the network regional logistics and sales manager for the West region. She brings over 10 years of industry experience in several roles, most recently, as the national key business manager at a major hearing instrument manufacturer; replacing Carrie Jackson in the Northeast is Ryan Munoz as the Northeast regional manager covering the New York and New England regions. Munoz was promoted after one-and-a-half years serving the mid-Atlantic region as a Sonus Network inside account executive; Sam Morris has been promoted as the southern regional manager covering the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas; and Greg Sanchez and Jordan Burch were recently promoted to the Sonus Network as the company’s new East and West senior inside account executives, respectively.
