WSA’s Wonderful Sound Project will donate 100 hearing aids to the Dallas Hearing Foundation over the next year, pairing device access with employee volunteer support to expand hearing care for underserved North Texans.

WSA, the global hearing healthcare group behind the Widex and Signia brands, has announced a commitment to donate 100 hearing aids to the Dallas Hearing Foundation (DHF) over the next 12 months through its Wonderful Sound Project initiative. The pledge also includes employee volunteer support aimed at broadening the nonprofit’s reach across the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

The Wonderful Sound Project is WSA’s social impact initiative focused on expanding access to hearing care through community-based programs that combine employee engagement, hearing health outreach, and device access for underserved populations.

The new commitment builds on an existing partnership between WSA and DHF, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance for hearing healthcare along with community support and resources to underserved children and adults in North Texas and beyond. By offsetting the Foundation’s need to purchase devices with its own limited funds, the donation is intended to help reduce waitlists and allow DHF to direct more of its resources toward direct services.

Expanding Access, Reducing Barriers

Untreated hearing loss is associated with reduced communication ability, diminished employment prospects, social isolation, and lower overall quality of life — challenges that are compounded for individuals who cannot afford hearing aids.

“The Wonderful Sound Project is about ensuring more people can experience the life-changing benefits of better hearing, regardless of their financial circumstances,” says Mike O’Neil, president of US Wholesale at WSA, in a release. “Through my involvement with the Foundation, I’ve seen firsthand the tremendous need that exists in our community. When funding limitations create barriers to care, people can be forced to wait for help they need today. By donating hearing aids and including employee volunteer support, we’re helping the Foundation stretch its resources further, reduce waitlists, and reach more people with life-changing hearing solutions.”

O’Neil recently joined the Dallas Hearing Foundation board of directors.

DHF Executive Director Jenny Peterson underscored the significance of the partnership for the individuals the organization serves.

“WSA’s support goes far beyond a donation,” says Peterson, in a release. “For many of the people we serve, hearing aids are simply out of reach financially. WSA is helping us serve more individuals and improve the quality of life for people in our community. We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to the impact we can make together.”
